The Department of Pathology, JIPMER Karaikal, in collaboration with the clinical departments of JIPMER Karaikal and the Government General Hospital, Karaikal, successfully launched its Inaugural Clinico-Pathology Correlation (CPC) Meeting as a quarterly academic initiative aimed at strengthening interdisciplinary dialogue and improving patient-centred clinical decision-making.

This CPC series has been established to enhance awareness among consultants, residents and junior doctors regarding essential pathology diagnostic services, test availability, the importance of complete clinical history, and diagnostic turnaround time (TAT). The inaugural CPC meeting was held on 20.11.2025 at 3.00 PM in the GH Auditorium.

The programme was graced by the presence of the Dean, Prof. Dr. Kusa Kumar Shaha, and the Medical Superintendent, Dr. S. Kannagi. The programme was convened by Prof. Dr. M. Balamurugan, Professor and Head, Department of Pathology, JIPMER Karaikal, and was ably supported by the Department faculty members — Dr. Niraimathi M., Associate Professor; Dr. Arun Kumar K., Associate Professor; Dr. Norton Stephen, Assistant Professor; and the Senior Resident, Dr. Ananya A. P.

As part of the academic deliberations, the Department of Pathology conducted multidisciplinary case discussions in active collaboration with the Departments of Surgery, Forensic Medicine, Medicine, Pediatrics, Microbiology, ENT, Dental, Dermatology, Obstetrics, and Pulmonary Medicine. Ten clinically diverse cases including an unusual testicular mass, post-mortem diagnostic revelation, lymphoma, pediatric tuberculosis, fungal abscess diagnosed on FNAC, breast mass from biopsy to resection, salivary gland neoplasm, intra-oral mass, skin lesion, and abnormal uterine bleeding were discussed with an integrated clinico-pathological approach, highlighting the pivotal role of pathology in diagnosis, management and overall patient care.

This academic initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening integrated clinical services and promoting evidence-based patient-centred care between Government General Hospital, Karaikal and  JIPMER Karaikal.
