General Info: 

The Department of Medicine was started in February 2020 at JIPMER Karaikal. The department strives to incorporate the core concepts of medicine to undergraduate students by didactic lectures and bedside clinical teaching. The first year students are also engaged in early clinical exposure classes. At present the department works along with the department of Medicine at GH Karaikal for patient care and student clinical teaching. The department foresees to be the referral center for common and uncommon communicable and noncommunicable diseases with the standard of care facilities.

MBBS

• The Department of Medicine is currently involved in undergraduate training program for MBBS students. Students are taught the basics of clinical medicine as well as establishing a good doctor patient relationship which is critical to progress in future. Bedside clinical teaching of common diseases and their approach are incorporated. Theory classes are conducted regularly to keep students uptodate about the current trends in medicine.
• The department plans to conduct regular academic workshops and conferences for undergraduate students as well as CME programs for the faculties of JIPMER.
• Orienting and training interns in clinical skill development and management of patients
